Walls in the interior are a kind of universal soldiers. They can be an inconspicuous background, assistants in creating an illusion, or the main characters. In this article, we will analyze examples in which walls became canvases for self-expression of designers and artists.
Artistic painting is one of the most expensive options for decorating a wall, both in terms of time and budget. But the result is an original decor that you definitely won’t find in another interior.

Moscow Apartment by Ekaterina Yakovenko
Designer Katerina Yakovenko wanted to surround her client with flowers, so they are everywhere in the bedroom of this Moscow apartment. “Usually the accent is on the wall behind the headboard, but I wanted the owner to open her eyes and see the beauty in front of her,” the designer explains. So the lush greenery is spread along the wall that we don’t see. It continues on a custom-made rug with a similar pattern, is reflected in a mirrored nightstand, and then rises higher to form an alcove in which the bed is located. The walls in the bedroom were first painted pale pink, and then flowers were applied using a stencil. “A woman surrounded by flowers always feels happy,” the author of the project believes.
